PROGRAMME OF SOCIETY EVENTS FOR 2023

Our meetings are usually on the second Monday of each month. As the Covid threat is now fairly mild, we are resuming face to face meetings.

13th February At 7.30pm Dave Key who is the volunteer historian at IBM Hursley will talk about recent excavations at Hursley House. These uncovered parts of the original Tudor Hursley House which was at one time owned by the family of Oliver Cromwell. The meeting will be in the Age Concern Hall in Romsey Road.

12 June There will be no full meeting in June but at 7.30pm there will be a working party to discuss updating our most important paper, Gordon Cox's "A Short History of Eastleigh". Any member who would like to contribute will be welcome to attend. The meeting will be in the Committee Room at Age Concern in Romsey Road. The paper is probably the best history of Eastleigh but it was finished in July 1987 which, of course makes it over 30 years out of date. In its current form it is available on this web site if you select the Document Library tab and put Short History or EP01 into the search box.
